The central government of India has released an amount of Rs 4,431 crore for the laborers working under the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The government has also decided to pay all pending wages under MNREGA by 10 April.

The government has to pay a total of 11,499 crores, out of which 4,431 crores has been released. A day earlier, the government has announced to increase the daily wage from 182 to 202 rupees. The officials said that the payment will go directly to the bank accounts of the workers.

75 new cases of coronavirus 'Covid-19' infection have been reported in the last 24 hours despite the government's lockdown in the country and the total number of infected has increased to over 800 and four patients have died. The outbreak of Coronavirus has spread in 27 states and union territories of the country. So far 19 people have died across the country due to corona virus infection. Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi have reported the highest number of infections so far.
