A shocking case of sexual abuse of two minor girls has come to light in a reputed school in Badlapur of Thane district adjoining Mumbai. Local citizens called for a Badlapur bandh on Tuesday against this incident. Hundreds of people gathered outside the school and raised slogans against the school and the police administration.
Anger over delay in complaint
It is alleged that when the parents of the victim girls reached Badalpur police station to lodge a complaint, they were made to wait for about 12 hours. This delay angered the people. After the holidays ended on Tuesday, thousands of people started protesting in front of the school.

According to the case, a sweeper in an old English medium school in Badlapur sexually abused two three and a half year old girls. The 24-year-old accused was arrested on Saturday. The accused was working as a sweeper in the school since August 1 and used to take the girls to the toilet and do dirty things.
Actions by school administration
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the school administration presented its side after four days. They publicly apologized to all the parents and suspended the school principal. Apart from this, the class teacher and the aaya were also fired from the job. The school has cancelled the contract with the contractor who sent the accused to the school.
Doctor's confirmation and police's delay
On Thursday, one of the girls informed her grandfather about sexual abuse by the accused. The girl, who studies in nursery, said that the accused used to take her and her friend to the toilet and do dirty things. After this, both the families took the girls to a private doctor for medical examination. The doctor confirmed the sexual abuse.
Question on police administration
The parents of the victim girls accused the police of not registering their complaint for more than 12 hours. After this, the District Women and Child Welfare Department intervened and registered an FIR. Seeing the anger of the people, the police administration took immediate action and transferred Badlapur Senior Police Inspector Shubhada Shitole. Along with this, two new police inspector rank officers have been appointed in Badlapur police station. This incident has created deep anger in the local community and people have strongly criticized the action of the school and police administration. From the actions taken by the school administration and the police, it appears that this matter is being taken seriously and concrete steps are being taken to prevent such incidents in future.
