SFIO Issues Summons to kerala CM's daughter Veena Vijayan Amid Financial Probe into Exalogic Solutions

Kochi: The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has issued summonses to Veena Vijayan, daughter of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and owner of Exalogic Solutions, as part of its investigation into financial dealings. The probe focuses on Exalogic Solutions and Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd. (CMRL). Veena Vijayan has been requested to provide documents pertaining to financial transactions between Exalogic Solutions and CMRL.

Exalogic has presented a copy of the summons to the Karnataka High Court, seeking to halt the SFIO's investigation and challenge the Ministry of Corporate Affairs Enquiry Order dated January 31, 2024. In response to the investigation, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) has released a document defending Veena Vijayan's firm, Exalogic Solutions. This marks a departure from the party's past response to similar allegations against the sons of the late CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. The document accuses the Union Government of manipulating Exalogic's bank transactions and fabricating lies to undermine Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's development agenda.

The document asserts that Exalogic's dealings are transparent and criticizes the targeting of Pinarayi Vijayan through Veena for political reasons. However, it does not mention Veena Vijayan or CMRL by name. Union Minister V Muraleedharan has stated that if the CM and his daughter have nothing to hide, they should cooperate with the SFIO's investigation instead of seeking legal intervention. He questions why the CPM is defending Veena Vijayan while adopting a different stance in the past.

Muraleedharan rejects allegations of compromise between the BJP and CPM, pointing to the SFIO's actions against Veena Vijayan and the incarceration of former Principal Secretary Sivasankar. He questions why the Karnataka Government has not pursued a CBI inquiry into Exalogic, suggesting political alliances may be hindering such actions. The article underscores the complex political dynamics surrounding the investigation into Exalogic Solutions and the responses from both the ruling and opposition parties.
