SGPC member Bhai Manjit Singh handed over the appreciation to the family members of Brother Jugraj Singh. This is not the first time that SGPC has honored Jugraj Singh's family. In March this year, an event was organized at the Golden Temple in memory of rioter Navrit Singh. He died when a tractor overturned in an attempt to break the barricade during the January 26 riots.
The Delhi Police had arrested Buta Singh from Talwandi Sabo on June 29. Buta Singh, 25, had helped Jugraj Singh hoist the flag during the Republic Day riots. A reward of 50,000 rupees was announced on him. The villagers had blocked the roads inside the village to prevent the police from arresting Buta Singh. However, Delhi police were able to arrest him with the help of Punjab police officials posted on the spot. Another accused Gurjot Singh was also arrested on June 28.
