There are many celebs in Bollywood who settled on-screen and in the hearts of the audience for a short time. Today is the birthday of one such actor Shafi Inamdar. Born in Bombay on October 23, 1945, Shafi Inamdar showcased his talent in television and cinema. From police inspectors, leaders, criminals to every kind of character, Shafi sat down in people hearts.

The same Shafi Inamdar has been one of the select Bollywood actors who has never played the lead role but achieved a lot by playing side characters. In 1982, he started his film career with the film 'Vijeta.' He came into the limelight for playing Inspector Haider Ali in the 1983 blockbuster film 'Ardh Satya.' He then appeared in films like 'Nazarana,' 'Anokha Rishta' and 'Amrit' and was more overshadowed by the hero. Shafi's acting and dialogue delivery were so beautiful that the audience couldn't take their eyes off as soon as he hit the screen. Shafi worked on-screen with every big star like Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Nana Patekar, Rekha, Hema Malini. Shafi, who has been active in the film industry for nearly two decades, also hit the small screen. He played the lead role in the serial Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. He was also in an important role in Gulzar's serial Ghalib.

He bid farewell to the world before his fans could see the same Shafi Inamdar in some more important character. Shafi died on March 13, 1996, at the age of just 50. The semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup between India and Sri Lanka were being played and Shafi suffered a heart attack while watching the match. Throughout his career, Shafi Inamdar appeared in nearly 50 films. Even if he is not among us today, his memories and artistry will always be with us.
