Lahore: Pakistan court has issued a notice to PM Imran Khan in a defamation case filed on behalf of PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif. In this case, Sharif has requested for an early hearing on his plea against Pakistan Tahirak-e-Insaf (PTI) president Imran Khan, which has been pending for the last three years.

PM Imran Khan alleged in April 2017 that Shahbaz offered him $ 6.1 million through a friend to withdraw the ongoing Panama Papers case in the Supreme Court against the 70-year-old former PM and his elder brother Nawaz Sharif. The Additional District and Sessions Court of Lahore took note of Shahbaz's application for hearing on June 10, in which he has argued that Khan has failed to file a written reply for the last three years which did not make any significant progress in the case. A lawyer for Shahbaz told the court that, 'Out of a total of 60 hearings in this case, Imran Khan's lawyer has sought adjournment on 33 occasions.
