Shahid Afridi, a legendary cricketer, stated on live television that his daughter "was waving the Indian flag" during the September 4 Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 match between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. The former captain of Pakistan admitted to Samaa TV that because there weren't enough Pakistan flags at the game's location, his daughter had to wave the Indian flag instead.

"My wife told me that there were barely 10% Pakistani fans in the stadium and the rest were Indian fans. Pakistani flags were not available there so my younger daughter was waving the Indian flag. I received the video, but I was unsure about whether to share it online or not", he said.

Pakistan defeated India in their Super 4 matchup after falling to them in the Asia Cup group round. Mohammad Rizwan scored 71 runs off 51 balls to help Pakistan reach 182 for five in 19.5 overs while chasing a goal of 182 runs. Mohammad Nawaz also contributed a significant inning, scoring 42 runs off 20 balls. India first scored 181 runs in 20 overs, with Virat Kohli scoring 60 of those runs in just 44 balls. For Pakistan, Shadab Khan took two wickets while bowling well.

Final score: Sri Lanka won by 23 runs over Pakistan. With a target of 171 runs to defend, Sri Lanka bowled Pakistan out for 147 in 20 overs, with hauls of four and three wickets respectively from Pramod Madushan and Wanindu Hasaranga. Chamika Karunaratne was fired twice in the meanwhile. Initially, Bhanuka Rajapaksa's undefeated innings of 71 run off 45 balls assisted the hosts in reaching 170 for 6 in 20 overs. Hasaranga contributed well as well, scoring 36 runs off 21 balls. Meanwhile, Haris Rauf claimed three wickets for Pakistan.

After the win in the Asia Cup final, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka said, "We played last year's qualifiers as well ... it's the set-up that has come through from three or four years back. The last two years were really good for us ... and winning Asia Cup will really help for the ... World Cup. The World Cup qualifiers will help as well because we will play in those conditions before the main tournament happens so it'll be really good for us."
