Mumbai: The Maharashtra cabinet has approved the power legislation in the state a few days ago. Now today the Shakti Act is to be introduced in the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha. In such a situation, today we are going to tell you what are the provisions in Shakti Act 2020.

Provisions of Shakti Act 2020-

- Let us tell you that under this Act there is a provision of giving death sentence to the guilty of a very serious and hate crime. Not only this, 15 days time will be fixed for investigation of such crime and further investigation can be extended seven days in a special situation.

- Under this law, the day of filing of charge sheet in the court for hate crimes will be heard and will be completed within 30 days. In this, the file will be closed within 45 days of the sentencing. By the way, if you remember, for this first six months was the time period.

- Let us tell you that the Government of Maharashtra, inspired by the Direction Act of Andhra Pradesh, has proposed the name of this Act, which is named Special Court and Machinery for the Implementation of Shakti Act 2020.

Along with this, there will be a provision of the death penalty for the accused and there will also be a provision for giving financial compensation to the victim. There will also be a fine of up to Rs 100 lakh which will be for plastic surgery and facial reconstruction of the victim. Crimes like gang rape and misdemeanour have also been added to this list, with a provision of punishment of 12 years in the case of rape with a young girl below 16 years.

There is also a proposal inside the Shakti Act that every district will have special courts, special police teams. Apart from this, a special institution will be formed for the convenience and convenience of victimized women and children. It states that in the case of an acid attack, the section will be non-bailable, in which the provision of punishment shall not be less than 10 years.

- Section 354 of the IPC will be added to section 'E', in which cases will be registered in cases of harassment, objectionable comments and threats by social media, telephone or other digital means.
