Mumbai: National Congress Party (NCP) National President Sharad Pawar has given a disputed statement saying that only the idea of 'Hindutva' is a big threat to the country. He said that respect for all religions is necessary in the country. Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena, Sharad Pawar said that Hindutva was the main issue in the joint press talks of both.
It is worth mentioning that on Friday, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announced the joint press conference seat sharing. During this, CM Devendra Fadnavis had said that for the 288-member assembly, Shiv Sena will field its candidates for 126, allies 14 and BJP for the remaining seats. At the same time, NCP chief Sharad Pawar had announced the alliance between Congress and NCP for the assembly elections last month and said that in Maharashtra, both parties will field candidates for 125-125 seats.
Sharad Pawar had said that the remaining seats will be given to other parties in his alliance. Sharad Pawar said that there may be upsurge between him and Congress in 15-20 seats. Let us tell you that in the 2014 elections, BJP won 122 seats in the 288-member assembly, while Shiv Sena won 62 seats. Congress and NCP had to be satisfied with 42 and 41 seats respectively.
