Pune: The country is still in the fray, NCP President Sharad Pawar on Sunday claimed that the BJP will lose elections in the remaining four states except for Assam. He said the trend of elections in five states will give the country a new direction. Talking to reporters in the Baramati district of the Pune City of Maharashtra, Pawar criticized the central government for misusing the power (allegedly) in the election state of West Bengal. He says that the BJP will face defeat in all the election states other than Assam and other parties would come to power in those states.

Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party is also a constituent of the Congress in the Shiv Sena-led government of Maharashtra. The assembly elections in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and a union territory of Puducherry are due in March-April. Counting of votes will be held on May 2. "It is wrong to talk about the poll results in five states today as the people of these states will decide on it," he said. As far as Kerala is concerned, the Left Parties and the NCP have come together, and we are sure that we will get a clear majority.

The former union minister said that in Tamil Nadu, the person will support DMK and its president MK Stalin and those persons will come to power. "In West Bengal, the Centre, particularly the BJP, is misusing power and trying to attack a sister (quoting CM Mamata Banerjee) who is trying to fight for the people of the state," the NCP chief said. He said, "I have no doubt that the Trinamool Congress (after the election) led by Mamata Banerjee will remain in the polity."
