NEW DELHI: Pakistan's opener Batsman Sharjeel Khan has apologized to the board. He was found involved in the spot-fixing case in 2017. Sharjeel was banned for five years due to the spot-fixing case. Sharjeel met the anti-corruption officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board who asked him to go through the rehabilitation process. This has made him on his way back to the game. "I offered an unconditional apology for my irresponsible behavior that shamed the PCB, my teammates, fans and family," Sharjeel was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the PCB.

"I urge for an apology and assure that I will show more responsibility in my future activities." The Pakistan Cricket Board had in the past put a condition for an apology to Sharjeel. A PCB official had said that Sharjeel may have a chance to play in the Quaid Azam Trophy in September, but he will have to admit his involvement in spot-fixing and apologize for his actions.
Sharjeel was found guilty of fixing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In the first match of PSL-2, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were playing for Islamabad United and both were found guilty of violating 5 Anti-Corruption Codes. On August 30, 2017, Sharjeel Khan was charged with a five-year ban. Pakistan has been notorious for fixing cricket.
