New Delhi: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has apologized for his comments on PM Narendra Modi's speech on the Bangladesh war. He confessed his mistake and said that he had tweeted "by reading the headline and tweets in a quick way." Tharoor had reacted to the part of PM Modi's speech in which Prime Minister Modi talked about "Satyagraha for Bangladesh's independence." PM Modi was speaking at the main function of Bangladesh's Independence Day and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dhaka.

Shashi Tharoor TweetOn Saturday, Shashi Tharoor shared information on PM Modi on Twitter, writing, "If I am wrong, I don't feel bad in accepting it.'' Reading the headline and tweet in haste yesterday, I tweeted, "Everybody knows who liberated Bangladesh." which meant that Narendra Modi did not tell Indira Gandhi's contribution. But he mentioned it. Sorry. In his address in Dhaka on Friday, Prime Minister Modi had said that he had done Satyagraha for Bangladesh's independence and had also gone to jail for it.

He said, "Joining the struggle for Bangladesh's independence was one of the first movements of my life. I would have been 20-22 years old when I and many of my colleagues had done satyagraha for the freedom of the people of Bangladesh. On the same part of PM Modi's speech, Shashi Tharoor commented, "International knowledge: Our PM is relishing Indian 'fake news' to Bangladesh. Everybody knows who liberated Bangladesh." Shashi Tharoor's tweet indicated the contribution of former PM Indira Gandhi to the Bangladesh War.
