NEW DELHI:Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor appeared in Delhi's Raus Avenue Court on Thursday in a defamation case filed against him for his "scorpion" statement on Shivling. During the hearing, Shashi Tharoor told the court that he had not committed any crime. On the other hand, Shashi Tharoor's lawyer Salman Khurshid told the court that he wanted to argue. The court posted the matter for further hearing on August 7.

It may be mentioned that in the last hearing, the court had granted bail to Shashi Tharoor on a personal bond of 20,000 rupees. In fact, BJP (BJP) leader Rajiv Babbar had filed a criminal defamation complaint against Tharoor. In his complaint, he had said that his religious sentiments were hurt because of the Congress leader's statement.

He also said that it has hurt the reputation of not only him but many workers. His statement has also hurt the sentiments of millions of Shiv Bhaktas living in the country. On the other hand, Shashi Tharoor had spoken to the media about the declaration of Sanskrit as the official language of the country. He said that Sanskrit is a wonderful language, but is fading at present.
