New Delhi: Congress veteran Shashi Tharoor has demanded permission for Farooq Abdullah, Chief of National Conference and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, to attend the Parliament session. In reality, all the main leaders of the Valley have been under house arrest ever since the special state status was taken away from Jammu and Kashmir.

Shashi Tharoor has made this appeal amid the appeal of the National Conference to remove the ban on all the main leaders from the central government. Shashi Tharoor tweeted a letter from Farooq Abdullah that wrote, 'Imprisonment is Farooq saheb's letter. Members of Parliament should be allowed to attend the Parliament session as they have parliamentary privileges in this matter. Otherwise, the arrest can be used to suppress opposition voices. Participation in Parliament is essential for democracy and popular sovereignty.

Actually, Farooq Abdullah has written a letter of thanks to Shashi Tharoor. The former CM of the Valley has written this letter from the address of Sub-Jail, 40 Gupkar Road Srinagar. Expressing gratitude to Shashi Tharoor, Farooq Abdullah wrote that, today I received your letter from the Magistrate. It is most unfortunate that they are not able to reach my post at the same time. This is not the way to treat a senior MP and party leader in this manner. We are not criminals.
