Moscow: Two people were killed by Ukrainian shelling on Saturday in Belgorod, Russia, a border region that has been repeatedly attacked this week, according to the local governor.

Seven people have died this week as a result of the unprecedented shelling that has hit the border villages of Belgorod. The Ukrainian military has been shelling the Shebekino district since this morning, according to Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

He claimed that a "elderly woman" was killed in Novaya Tavolzhanka and that a second woman died from her injuries in Bezlyudovka. The shelling also injured another two people.

Residents from the Shebekino area, which has been the hardest hit by the shelling, have been flooding relocation centres in Belgorod, the region's capital.
On Thursday, the Russian army claimed it had repelled an attempt by the Ukrainian army to invade Belgorod by using its air force and artillery.

Russian shelling of the village of Komyshevaha in the Ukrainian Zaporizhzhia region on Friday resulted in two fatalities and four injuries, according to the regional governor.

In the small Ukrainian village near the front line, Yuriy Malashko reported on the Telegram messaging app that Russian forces had attacked a multi-story residential building.

According to officials installed in Moscow on Sunday, two thermal power plants in the country's Donetsk region were damaged by Ukrainian shelling. According to preliminary reports, the plants in Zuhres and Novyi Svit had been damaged, and some locals had been hurt, the officials announced on their Telegram channels.

According to TASS, two people may be buried beneath debris at the damaged Starobesheve power plant in Novyi Svit. It stated that the strike was conducted using a system with multiple rocket launchers, citing officials.

Ukraine, which never publicly assumes responsibility for attacks inside of Russia or on Ukrainian territory that is under Russian control, made no immediate comments.
