It is noteworthy that after Shinzo Abe's announcement, on 28 August, PM Narendra Modi tweeted from his official Twitter handle, in which he expressed concern about his health. PM Modi wrote in his tweet "Sorry to know about the poor health of my friend Shinzo Abe. In the last few years, the India-Japan partnership under your leadership has been very strong. I wish you good health".

When Narendra Modi was the CM of Gujarat, he had a good relationship with Shinzo Abe ever since. After this, when PM Modi became PM in 2014, India-Japan relations reached a new level. Shinzo Abe also visited India several times during this period. Talking about Shinzo Abe, he was in the post of Prime Minister of Japan since 2012, even before he resigned from the post due to ill health. But from 2012 onwards, he continued in his post. In the past few times, he had to be admitted to the hospital twice, which is why he left his post.
