Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann has appealed to the people of Punjab to boycott the Centre's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. Simranjit Singh, SAD MP from Punjab's Sangrur Lok Sabha seat, has created a furore by asking people to boycott the Tiranga campaign.

Simranjit Singh Mann appealed to boycott the national flag and said, ''I urge you to hoist the Nishan Sahib in homes and offices on August 14-15. Deep Sidhu, who is no more with us, has said that Sikhs are independent and a separate community.'' Simranjit Singh Mann also referred to the Indian security forces as "enemy" forces. He said that ''Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale (Khalistani terrorist slain) was martyred while fighting the enemy's army.''

At the same time, designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, representing the banned terrorist organization Sikh for Justice (SFJ), in a video message has tried to incite the people of Punjab to burn the tricolour and hoist the Khalistani flag on Independence Day. BJP and AAP have together condemned Simranjit Singh Mann and Pannu. AAP spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang lashed out at the leaders, saying boycotting the campaign exposes their true character. He said, 'Those who took oath according to the Constitution of India, they have been exposed today.
