Amritsar: Political turmoil has intensified in Punjab over next year's assembly elections. Shiromani Akali Dal leaders and activists staged a dharna against CM Captain Amarinder Singh's residence in Siswan on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Shi'ite leaders accused the Amarinder Singh government of failing to fulfil its promises for the 2017 assembly elections and committing scams during the Corona epidemic, as well as demanding the removal of Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.
It may be recalled that the Congress government in Punjab has recently been accused of selling the vaccine received from the Centre to private hospitals at high prices. The Akali Dal is also accusing the state Congress government of a scam in buying corona vaccines and 'Fateh' kits, which are being used to treat corona patients.
On June 7 also, Shiromani Akali Dal (Shi'ad) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) party members staged a protest outside health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu's house in Mohali demanding his dismissal by the Punjab government over the alleged sale of corona vaccine to private hospitals.
