Story - Once the tyranny of the demons increased greatly. Then all the gods came to Lord Vishnu and prayed to kill the demons. In order to destroy the demons, Lord Vishnu went to Mount Kailash and started worshipping Lord Shiva. He started pleasing Lord Shiva with 1 thousand names. Lord Vishnu used to offer a lotus to Lord Shiva with every name he recites. Lord Shiva hid one lotus flower out of a thousand lotuses brought by Vishnu to test him. Vishnu did not know this due to Shiva's illusion. Lord Vishnu started searching for it but did not find a flower.
Then Lord Vishnu took out his one eye and offered it to Shiva. Seeing the devotion of Vishnu, Lord Shiva was very pleased and told him to ask for a boon. Then Lord Vishnu asked for the boon of invincible weapons to destroy the demons. Then Lord Shiva bestowed the Sudarshan Chakra to Vishnu. Vishnu killed the demons with that chakra. In this way, the gods got rid of the demons and the Sudarshan Chakra was forever associated with Lord Vishnu.
