New Delhi: Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw batted stormily against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scoring 82 off 41 balls with the help of 11 fours and 3 sixes. Prithvi had made his intentions clear in the first over of the innings. He hit 6 consecutive fours in the over from KKR pacer Shivam Mavi. A total of 25 runs were scored in the young bowler's over.
This is the second time in the history of IPL that 6 fours have been hitten in an over. The feat was earlier performed by Ajinkya Rahane in 2012. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, Rahane hit 6 consecutive fours in the over of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowler S Arvind. Young batsman Prithvi Shaw then completed his fifty-off 18 balls as his innings helped Delhi to beat Kolkata by 7 wickets. Prithvi Shaw and Shivam Mavi were seen talking to each other after the match. Shivam Mavi also strangulated Prithvi Shaw in jest. The video of Shaw and Shivam Mavi is going viral on social media.
Prithvi Shaw and Shivam Mavi are good friends. Both have played for the India U-19 team. Shivam Mavi was part of Prithvi Shaw-captained Team India in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup. Team India defeated Australia in the final to become the champions.
