Tulsi Silavat Devi was a student union at Ahilya University in 1979-81. Tulsi first became a corporator in Indore Municipal Corporation in 1982 and after that he became an MLA in 1985. The Congress Party has made him Vice Chairman in the State Congress Committee. He was elected MLA for the third time in 2008 after the December 2007 by-election. By winning the assembly elections in 2018, Silavat has become the MLA for the fourth time.
