Mumbai: Opposition parties are opposing the Citizenship Amendment bill being brought by the Modi government at the Center. Shiv Sena, which left the hand of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra and formed the government along with Congress and NCP, has also clarified its stand on this issue and supported this bill. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that the government in Maharashtra is different, but in the case of the country, it is adamant on its commitment.

Speaking to the media, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said that we will not back down on the issue of commitment with the country, our stand will be known whenever this bill is brought. He said that we stand on the issue of national security. He further said that Shiv Sena has already been saying that the intruders should be driven out of the country, on the issue of the Hindu-Sikh-Buddhist-Jain coming from Pakistan-Bangladesh-Afghanistan, Shiv Sena is with Central Government.

Even when Shiv Sena was in NDA, it used to support this bill. But now his fellow NCP and Congress in Maharashtra are strongly opposing this bill. Other opposition parties including Congress are protesting on the Citizenship Amendment Bill and blaming the government that this bill is going to divide people on the basis of religion. However, Shiv Sena is connecting this matter with the country.
