Mumbai: Amid the ongoing political tussle over formation of Maharashtra government, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray can today stake claim to form the government with the support of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress. In this regard, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has left for Delhi to meet the interim president of Congress, Sonia Gandhi.

Meeting of Shiv Sena leaders was held till late night in Uddhav Thackeray's Mumbai residence 'Matoshree'. In this, Uddhav Thackeray, Aditya Thackeray, Eknath Shinde, Anil Desai, Milind Narvekar and Priyanka Chaturvedi held talks for three and a half hours for the formation of the government. After the meeting, all the leaders appeared to be avoiding talking to the media. According to media sources, after negotiations between Thackeray and Sharad Pawar, an agreement between the Army and NCP has been finalized.

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has invited Shiv Sena, the second largest party in the state, to form the government. Sources say that Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray himself can become the CM of Maharashtra. The deal with NCP and Congress has finalized that Ajit Pawar, nephew of NCP chief Sharad Pawar, may be given the deputy CM and Jayant Patil as Home Minister. At the same time, Congress will be given the post of the Speaker of the Assembly.
