In the name of the diplomat, the gold smuggling case is being heated. The investigation of gold smuggling has reached the information and technology (IT) department of the Government of Kerala. After which, on Tuesday, Department Secretary M. Shivshankar was removed from the post of Secretary to the Chief Minister. In a brief statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office, it was told that in place of Shivshankar, another IAS officer Mir Muhammad has been made the secretary of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This will be his additional charge.

Shiv Shankar can continue in the post of IT Secretary. The role of a female employee of the IT department in the gold smuggling case is considered suspicious. The investigation has started against him. The government sources say that the woman was fired two days ago. The case relates to the 30 kg of gold seized at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, which was sent via air cargo in the name of a foreign diplomat along with bathroom fittings.

Regarding the matter, the Customs Department said that the smuggler gang has tried to abuse the diplomat's privilege to smuggle gold. The customs department arrested an alleged former employee of the consulate in that country in Kerala after questioning. The department is looking for a female employee in the case, who was appointed as a liaison officer under the IT department on a six-month contract at Space Park.
