Srinagar: The Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir is at its peak, another batch of 1,175 devotees left for Amarnath Yatra from Jammu on Tuesday. In the last 29 days, more than 3.20 lakh devotees have visited the holy Shivalinga inside the cave. Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) officials, who manage the Amarnath Yatra, said, "On the 29th day of Shri Amarnathji Yatra this year, 2,055 pilgrims visited the holy cave. So far, 3,21,410 pilgrims have visited Baba Bhandari in the holy cave."
Police said 1,175 passengers left for the valley on Tuesday morning from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in two convoys with security hair. According to devotees, the Amarnath Cave, located 3,888 m above sea level in Kashmir, forms a huge ice Shivling, which symbolizes the mythological powers of Lord Shiva.
According to SASB officials, 26 pilgrims have died during the Amarnath Yatra. Two volunteers and two security personnel have also lost their lives during the operation. The 45-day Amarnath Yatra, which began on July 1 this year, will conclude with Shravan Purnima on August 15.
