Bollywood actress Shruti Haasan commented on alcohol addiction in the past and till now she has been a part of the discussions about this comment. Shruti is the daughter of actor Kamal Haasan and she spoke openly about her alcohol addiction in an interview given in the past. During this time, after whatever she said, people were constantly making comments. Shruti had described herself as a whiskey lover and said that "I don't drink much alcohol anymore. Two years ago I was completely different. I was living an ordinary life now". After this comment of Shruti, social media users told her to be an alcohol addict.

Now recently, Shruti has given clarification on this. In a recent interview, she said, "I am not an alcoholic. I have said earlier that I do not drink much alcohol anymore and now I am living a calm life. This is today's culture and drinking alcohol is not a stigma. I want to live a quiet life. Shruti said that people should not be judged on the basis of drinking alcohol".

She further said, "People do not even accept that they have ever drunk which seems ridiculous in 2019. I want to live a quiet life and do not drink alcohol, then why people are making an issue?
