DUBAI: On Wednesday, Shubman Gill, the Indian batsman, ascended one place in the ICC rankings for ODI batters, now securing the fourth position. Meanwhile, in the T20 format, pacer Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Ravi Bishnoi also saw improvements.
In the latest ICC ODI rankings update, which followed the inaugural ODI between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Gill's rating points have reached 743, establishing him as India's highest-ranked batter.
Making a comeback, Bumrah, who led India in the Ireland series, leaped seven positions to attain the 84th rank, while Bishnoi surged 17 places to claim the 65th spot.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, after his 58-run performance in the second T20I against Ireland, skyrocketed by 143 places, reaching the 87th position.
Despite his absence from the Ireland series, Suryakumar Yadav maintained his top spot in the T20I batter rankings.
In the realm of ODIs, Pakistan's Babar Azam and Imam Ul Haq retained the first and third spots respectively. For India, stalwarts Virat Kohli (ninth) and captain Rohit Sharma (11th) remained in their previous positions.
Switching to Test cricket, India's spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja continue to dominate as the world's number-one bowler and all-rounder, respectively.
