New Delhi: Sachin Bishnoi, also known as Sachin Thapan and the prime accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, has been successfully extradited from Baku, Azerbaijan, to India by the Delhi Police Special Cell. Speaking on this matter, HGS Dhaliwal, the Commissioner of Delhi Police Special Cell, stated that a detailed press conference will be held later today.

The murder case of Moosewala, which shook the nation in May 2022, involved Sachin Bishnoi, a relative of the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Since then, Sachin had been on the run, but in August of the same year, he was detained in Azerbaijan. It was revealed that a few days before the murder, Bishnoi had managed to flee the country using a forged passport.

In another related incident, Vikramjeet Singh, alias Vikram Brar, a key aide of the jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after being deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to India earlier this month. Additionally, Lawrence Bishnoi himself has been transferred from a Gujarat jail to Delhi's Mandoli prison, where he denied any involvement in Moosewala's killing.

The unfortunate incident took place on May 29 last year when Sidhu Moosewala, aged 28, was brutally shot dead in Mansa, just a day after the Punjab government had curtailed his security cover. He was found slumped in the driver's seat with over 30 gunshot wounds, and despite being rushed to Mansa civil hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

During the investigation, it became apparent that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind behind this daylight killing. His close aide, Goldy Brar, who is reportedly based in Canada, was also under scrutiny in connection with the case. In response, the police issued a Red Corner Notice against Brar through Interpol.

Notably, the tragic incident occurred just two days after the Punjab Police had withdrawn security cover from 424 individuals, including Sidhu Moosewala. It is worth mentioning that Moosewala had contested the last Assembly election from Mansa on a Congress ticket but lost to AAP's Vijay Singla. On November 23, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Bishnoi in a separate case related to an alleged conspiracy to recruit youth for carrying out terror strikes in Delhi and other parts of the country.
