Srinagar: The kidnapping of two Sikh girls and forced conversion to Islam in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is gaining momentum and the Sikh community across the country is taking to the streets to protest against the incident. The Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Akal Takht Sahib demanded the introduction of anti-conversion law in Jammu and Kashmir, as has been implemented in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

According to the information received, an 18-year-old Sikh girl has been forced to do 'Nikah.' The girl's parents said that she is handicapped, she was kidnapped and the girl was kidnapped along with a man above 60 years of age in the Rainawadi area of Srinagar. The married person is already married and has children. Her family said she had gone missing on Monday and the Jammu and Kashmir police had assured her that the girl would be returned within 36 hours.

The family said the girl was kidnapped at gunpoint and found out that she would be produced before the court on Saturday morning. The girl was brought to Srinagar high court along with the family of the old man on Saturday. The girl's family was told that she was married to a 62-year-old man. This was followed by a stir among the Sikh community. Police told the girl's brother that the girl would be handed over to the family during the day.
