Gangtok: Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang's wife Krishna Rai and some members of his family have been found infected with the COVID-19 virus. Rai urged in a Facebook post, "We did everything possible to avoid the COVID-19 virus, but unfortunately we got infected. I urge all the persons in the contact to get the test done and the people in the nearest contact should go into isolation".

He also said that 'On the advice of doctors, he and his family members are in isolation at home.' Meanwhile, the Health Department has issued an order stating that doctors and nurses have been posted in Mintokgang. It is the official residence of CM which has now been converted into a COVID-19 virus care centre. CM is living in another house. It states that the health team will look after the health of the members of the CM's family and submit weekly reports to the Medical Superintendent of STNM Hospital'.

In the country, 83,347 new cases of COVID-19 virus infection have been reported in the last 24 hours. After which the total number of infected persons exceeded 56 lakhs, out of which more than 45 lakh people have become infection-free. The Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday that the rate of recovery of patients in India has been 81.25 per cent.

According to the data released by the ministry at 8 am, after the arrival of 83,347 new cases in the last 24 hours, infection cases in India increased to 56,46,010. With this, there is a steady increase in the cases of corona in the country.
