Gangtok: The Sikkim government is going to set up an Education Reform Commission to implement the new education policy. On Saturday, August 15, CM Prem Singh Tamang announced in this regard. Addressing the flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of 74th Independence Day, Tamang referred to the National Education Policy (NEP) approved by the central government, and said that the state government would constitute the Education Reform Commission to implement the NEP.
CM Tamang said that important steps have been taken in the reform of the new national education policy from school level to higher education. He said that the state government will set up Sikkim Education Reform Commission so that necessary policies can be formulated to implement the National Education Policy 2020. CM Tamang also said that the government has prepared a plan to build a model school in each district. In which innovative teaching and learning methods can be imbibed.
Independence Day was also observed in social distancing in the entire Himalayan region in view of the danger of coronavirus infection. CM Tamang said on the occasion that as part of the campaign for 'Self-reliant India', the government will make efforts to make Sikkim fully self-sufficient and people use only locally manufactured materials.
