Rajya Sabha MP Madan Lal Saini breathed his last at AIMS, observed silence in the House

New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha meeting in honour of the late member Madan Lal Saini has been adjourned till 2 PM. The 75-year-old Saini, who heads the Rajasthan unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here last evening. Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said at the beginning of the Rajya Sabha meeting that Saini, suffering from leukemia, underwent treatment in Jaipur and was brought to Delhi on Saturday.

Naidu said Madan Lal Saini was placed on a life-saving system in the Department of Hematology at AIIMS. Born in July 1943 at Sikar in Rajasthan, Saini, born in July 1943, worked as a lawyer from 1972 to 1975 and then joined the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. Saini was associated with several trade unions while working for the rights of workers.

Saini, who was a member of the Rajasthan Assembly, was elected president of the state unit of the BJP last year. Saini, who was elected to the Rajya Sabha on April 2018, was representing Rajasthan in the Rajya Sabha. Naidu said that since Saini's demise, the country has lost one of the best MPs and a benefactor of the disadvantaged sections. The members present in the House observed silence for a few moments in honour of Saini.
