The Punjab government has set up an SIT to investigate the matter, which has been under constant attack by the opposition in the paddy seed scam. The Vigilance Bureau will also continue to investigate the case at its level. Ludhiana Police Commissioner has asked to investigate the case. The SIT has been formed under the leadership of DCP (Law and Order) Ashwini Kumar, comprising ADCP Special Branch Jagpreet Singh, ACP Civil Lines Jitendra Chopra and SHO Richa Rani of Thana Division Five.

An officer of Agriculture Department has also been made a member of SIT. It is worth mentioning that in case of fake seeds, a farmer gave a written complaint to DC Pradeep Aggarwal that he was given PR 128 seed at the rate of Rs. 200 kg. While the price of this seed is Rs 70 a kg, DC instructed the District Agriculture Officer to investigate the matter. A large amount of seed and bill book were also recovered in the investigation. On May 11, Aadhaar registered a fraud case against the owner of the field store in police station division number five.

Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has appealed to Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to send a central team to Punjab for a fair investigation into the inter-state seed scam.
