Hyderabad: On Wednesday, rescue personnel in Sircilla, Telangana, recovered the body of a sixth adolescent from the Manair river. On Monday, six boys drowned while taking a dip in the river. While the bodies of five youngsters were recovered on Monday and Tuesday, Singam Manoj was still missing (16).

Manoj's body was not found until late Tuesday by a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team dispatched from Hyderabad. On Wednesday morning, the team resumed their search and were successful in locating the body.

The youngsters, who were between the ages of 13 and 16, were bathing in a check dam on the river. The check dam had broken due to heavy rains in September, and the youngsters had mistakenly assumed that the waters were shallow because of it. The water level, however, turned out to be higher than they had anticipated. None of the lads had ever swum before.

A group of nine pupils from Zilla Parishad High School had gone for a bath, according to authorities. The other seven plunged into the water while two sat on the riverbank. Only one of them was able to escape because he had not waded too far. On the same day, the body of Kolipaka Ganesh (15) was found, while Teegala Ajay (14), Konga Rakesh (15), Jadala Venkata Sai (14) and Sriram Kranthi Kumar (14) were discovered on Tuesday.
