SEOUL: Senior officials from South Korea, the United States, and Japan met in Seoul on Wednesday to discuss regional and global cooperation in the wake of North Korea's possible nuclear test.
Cho Hyun-dong, South Korea's Second Vice Foreign Minister, met with his American and Japanese counterparts, Wendy Sherman and Takeo Mori, two weeks after President Joe Biden's alliance-building tour to Seoul and Tokyo, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Cho held one-on-one talks with Sherman the day before, with North Korea purportedly planning its first nuclear test in over four years.
The previous tripartite conference of No. 2 diplomats took place in November of last year in Washington, D.C.
'In the meanwhile, Sherman spoke with Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmytro Senik in Seoul. "Continued US humanitarian, economic, and security assistance to Ukraine" was discussed, she stated in a Twitter message.
