Delhi's air quality improves marginally, but still in 'very poor' category

New Delhi: Due to strong winds in the country's capital Delhi, there has been some reduction in air pollution. However, due to stubble burning in Punjab, the air quality has not improved so far. Today i.e. on Sunday, for the third consecutive day, the air quality in Delhi-NCR was recorded in the very poor category. According to SAFAR, the overall air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 320 at 8 am. There is relief in pollution in NCR including Noida, Gurugram as compared to earlier.  

As per reports, Delhi's 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 303 on Saturday, which is better than Friday's 346. Whereas, the average index was 295 on Thursday. People of Delhi-NCR are likely to get some more relief from pollution from Monday. According to SAFAR, the wind speed blowing from the northwest will reduce on Monday. In such a situation, the air quality is expected to improve.

Whereas, the air of NCR is very bad. Noida recorded very poor air quality with an AQI of 341. While Gurugram's air remained in the 'very poor' category with an AQI of 324. The AQI recorded at all the major monitoring stations in the capital also remained in the 'very poor' category. Meanwhile, stubble burning accounts for 34 per cent of Delhi's pollution.
