If you use Smartphone then you need to be cautious. As per reports, 35% of Android smartphones are not going to receive security patches anytime soon. Without the patch, the phone is going to be in the hands of hackers. There are many smartphones that have been unable to install the new version of Google's operating system. The well-known antivirus Bitdefender has introduced a new approach to the security of Android smartphones. The company's computer security experts point to an Android distribution problem.

Doors open for hackers to hack: According to the news, many smartphones still run on the years old version of Android. Missing out on security patches, these older versions are hackers' favorite gateways. Many consumers are ignoring the importance of security patches and continue to use vulnerable devices years after the manufacturer declared them obsolete.

Smartphones still running older versions: Bitdefender has said that, 'We'll still be able to find devices running versions of Android released a decade ago, and they're more popular than you might think.' To substantiate its claims, the company tested smartphones using the Bitdefender app. There are a large number of devices that haven't upgraded to Android 12 or Android 11. So far 36.47% of smartphones have been updated to Android 12. And 29.15% of the devices are running Android 11. Note that Android 10 is still equipped with 15.03% of devices.

Therefore, 35% of Android smartphones coming worldwide are no longer going to receive security patches, leaving the door open for hackers. Without taking Android 10 into account, we feel that 20% of devices are already vulnerable. Bitdefender recommends keeping this in mind when buying a new device.
