New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SMCD) Mayor Mukesh Suryan on Monday (May 9, 2022) has written to lodge an FIR against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan. According to media reports, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan joined the ongoing protest at Shaheen Bagh. In the Shaheen Bagh area, people are protesting on the road protesting against the action against encroachments by the MCD, due to which people stopped the bulldozers on the road itself. Earlier, Delhi BJP unit president Adesh Gupta had written a letter to Mayor Mukesh Suryan urging him to take action against the leaders of political parties. Aadesh Gupta had alleged that some AAP leaders, MLAs and councillors did not allow action on the encroachment at Shaheen Bagh. Some people lay down in front of the bulldozer. Therefore, a case may be registered under other relevant sections including obstructing the work of the Government.

In a tweet, Gupta wrote, "Today, to stop the action being taken by the corporation in Shaheen Bagh, Congress and AAP leaders laid down in front of the bulldozers and blocked the road and gave it the colour of communalism. There is a terrorist who spreads terror, not of any religion or religion, but those who lie before the bulldozers will lie to you.''
