New Delhi: AIMIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has come under bombardment from social media users for supporting Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui, who was arrested in connection with an illegal conversion case. Supporting Maulana Kaleem, Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted that the propagation of his religion is not a crime.

Owaisi tweeted on the matter on Friday saying, "Spoke to Maulana Kaleem Saheb's lawyer Abubakr Sabbaq. Article 25 has the right to propagate your religion. It is not a crime in any way to disclose your religion. The UP government is conducting media trials. The sections against him do not match the allegations. Inshallah justice will be done.'' Perhaps Owaisi forgot that it is not a crime to inform or propagate his religion, but it is certainly a crime to convert minor children through illegal means. Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui has been charged with illegal conversion due to which he has been handed over to ATS on a 10-day remand. Asaduddin Owaisi has been now taken aback by social media users.

A user named Habul Dutta commented on Owaisi's tweet and wrote, 'You know how to talk nonsense and provoke a Muslim. You are a blot on the name of the barrister. You only know how to talk and speak without thinking. Everyone knows that it is not a sin to preach religion, but it is a sin to force it by seduction. Now, this is not the time of the Mughals, it is Hindustan.' Another user wrote, 'Throwing big does nothing. No one is helping this Khatun from Hyderabad. All of you just fool society. If you are a human being, first do good to the Khatun of Hyderabad and then become a contractor of the society.'
