Srinagar: PDP chief and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti on Monday met Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. This meeting is also considered to be very important politically, because after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and the formation of a union territory, now the work of delimitation for the assembly seats is in the final stage.

Amidst the prospects of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, questions are being raised after Mehbooba Mufti's meeting with Sonia Gandhi whether the Congress will leave the National Conference and combine with the PDP or will it keep both the parties together? Not much has been told about this meeting of Mehbooba Mufti with Sonia Gandhi. This meeting is being described as a courtesy call, but the way in which both the leaders discussed the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the country at 10 Janpath.

In such a situation, the arrival of the PDP chief to 10 Janpath only indicates that in the coming days, PDP and Congress may come closer to each other, because both the parties are politically marginalized at the present time.
