New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi met with political strategist Prashant Kishor at her residence on Tuesday to discuss strategy for the next Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The meeting takes place amid rumours that Kishor may join the Congress. The poll strategist has met Gandhi for the third time in a week. Kishor gave a detailed presentation on the party's resurrection strategy and the way forward for the next general election at a meeting between the two on April 16 and Saturday evening.

Digvijaya Singh, Mukul Wasnik, KC Venugopal, Ambika Soni, Randeep Surjewala, and Kamal Nath were among the senior party officials who attended today's meeting.

On Saturday, Gandhi met separately with key Congress leaders to plan a strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, as well as state elections in Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

In recent Assembly elections, Congress suffered a severe defeat. In Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur, the party was unable to prevent the BJP from maintaining power. Punjab was also lost to AAP. The Congress is likely to appoint a committee to examine Kishor's plans for the next Assembly and parliamentary elections and report back to the party's president for further action.
