Sonia Gandhi raises issue of Rae Bareli Railway Coach Factory in Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI: In the 2019 Lok Sabha on Wednesday, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi raised the issue of selling the land of modern rail coach factory in Rae Bareli. Sonia said, "The railway coach is ready here at the lowest price. The future of 2000 employees in the coach factory hangs in the balance. I don't understand that the government is going to privatise it," she said.

UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has further said that the employees have been put in peril to benefit the capitalists.  The employees there are not being paid salaries. The government is demanding that the railway coaches be honoured by the workers in the factory. On Tuesday, Sonia Gandhi raised the issue in Zero Hour.

The same issue was raised by Adhir Ranjan Choudhary in the Question Hour on Wednesday, but talking to the press in yesterday's reply, Minister of State for Railways Suresh Agadi said that it was Sonia's publicity stunt. No such proposal is before the government.

On Wednesday, the Railway Minister, while replying to the Question Hour, said that the process of PSUs was initiated by the UPA government. Its corporatization is being done for good. Both the ministers of the mean railway are saying different things.
