New Delhi: A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi for their provocative statements during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In the petition, both the leaders were accused that during the protest against CAA in 2019-20, many opposition leaders were also involved in inflammatory statements. The petition was filed by a group of lawyers in the court.

Sonia and Rahul have filed their affidavits in the matter today. In this, he has opposed the petition of lawyers and said that raising opposition to the CAA law brought by the government is not hate speech. It is not right to selectively target opposition leaders. In 2020, the high court raised the issue of hate speech and inflammatory speeches ahead of the Delhi anti-Hindu riots after a series of petitions on the issue. Several petitions were filed in 2020 during the Delhi anti-Hindu riots. The issue of inflammatory speeches was also raised in it. The petition had sought action against BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Kapil Mishra and others.

During the CAA protest, many leaders made provocative statements, in which people were asked to take to the streets and fight against the government. Sonia Rahul is also accused of making similar statements.
