President Joe Biden is making a strong return to South Carolina, signaling his determination to regain support from Black voters for the upcoming 2024 elections.

Despite having a secure position in South Carolina's Democratic primary next week, Biden is aware of the state's longstanding Republican leanings. However, he's prioritizing reconnecting with the Black community, crucial to his victory in 2020 but showing less enthusiasm now.

During his visit, Biden will deliver a keynote speech at the state party's fundraising dinner and attend a political event at St. John Baptist Church, recognizing the intertwined nature of politics and faith in the state.

Deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks emphasized their commitment to securing a decisive victory in the primary and learning from it to engage Black voters effectively in the anticipated 2024 rematch against GOP front-runner Donald Trump.

However, Biden faces mixed reviews from Black voters, who express discontent over issues like voting rights legislation. Recent polls show a decline in approval from Black adults, raising concerns about Biden's reelection prospects.

To address this, Biden's campaign is running ads highlighting his initiatives benefiting the Black community, aiming to boost enthusiasm. Additionally, the Democratic National Committee and first lady Jill Biden are actively engaging voters in South Carolina.

Despite historically favoring Republicans in presidential elections, South Carolina's significance as a key primary state is recognized, especially given its diverse electorate.

Rep. Jim Clyburn's endorsement played a pivotal role in Biden's success in 2020, and his continued support underscores Biden's connection with the state.

Biden's decision to campaign extensively in South Carolina not only strengthens its status as a significant primary state but also acknowledges its influence beyond its borders, particularly in neighboring swing states like Georgia and North Carolina.

This visit marks Biden's second trip to South Carolina this month, reaffirming his commitment to engaging with the community and addressing crucial issues like racial justice.
