Bhagalpur: A Rs 1,700-crore bridge over the Ganga river collapsed in Bihar's Bhagalpur on Sunday. The bridge was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in November 2014, but the construction work could not be completed even after nine years. In this case, on the one hand, the BJP surrounded the Nitish government alleging corruption, while the Samajwadi Party has got the support of Nitish.

Senior SP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav said that this bridge was already going to be dismantled. Now it has fallen, it has fallen. Anyway, politics in this country is happening on everything and everybody is doing it. After the collapse of the bridge, the politics of Bihar became hot. In this case, the BJP has demanded the resignation of Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, accusing the Grand Alliance government of corruption. Union Minister Ashwini Choubey attacked the state government and said that taking moral responsibility for the collapse of the bridge, uncle-nephew (Nitish-Tejashwi) should resign.

Nitish Kumar said, "This happened some time ago too. We asked why this has happened. We decided to make it a long time ago. It was decided to build it in 2012. Construction began in 2014. Whoever was given the contract, why is he making it so late? It fell earlier, we said it 1 year ago. It fell again yesterday. We told the people of the department to watch and take action. This is not the way. It should be done by now. Enough is enough. Why is it so late? I have had a lot of problems. It was not being built properly, so it is falling down again and again."
