Lucknow: SP MP Shafiqur Rahman has come cleaned after an FIR was registered in connection with a statement in support of the Taliban terror group. He has said that he has not compared the Taliban to Indian freedom fighters. Shafiqur Rahman says his statement has been misinterpreted.

The SP MP clarified his statement saying that he is an Indian citizen and not from Afghanistan. That's why they have nothing to do with what's happening there. He even said that he fully supports the policies of the government. SP MP Shafiqur Rahman Burq had compared Taliban militants to freedom fighters in the country. After which the BJP leader has registered a case against several leaders including the SP MP.

SP Sansad's tone has changed in one go after the case was registered. After Shafiqur Rahman, now AIMPLB spokesman Sajjad Nomani has also supported Taliban militants. Saluting the Taliban forces, Maulana Sajjad Nomani said that they defeated the strongest army. He saluted the Taliban on behalf of the Hindustani Muslims on this victory.
