Recently The IMCR has urged that the district administration of Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) forward the PDS rice re-packaging and black-marketing case to the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) for further investigation.

IMACR chairperson Raj Pao told reporters at the press club here on Thursday that numerous quintals of PDS rice from the capital region are being transferred to Assam for repackaging. Repackaging efforts are also being carried out in select shops in the capital region. After repackaging, the PDS rice is returned to retail shops in the capital region and sold in the open market.

"The stores and shops where such activity was done were earlier sealed during a raid. However, the stores are now functioning without any legal action being taken against them by the concerned department and district administration," he said, adding that the IMACR should have been informed about it.

On December 2, 2021, an IMACR team, together with officials from the Food and Civil Supply Department, raided all of the twin capital's PDS stores, wholesale shops, and agencies, as well as sealed some stores for indulging in black marketing.

"We have now requested that the district administration forward the case to SIC and review the particular records of those stores' GST income tax returns for the last year. Surprisingly, the district administration is unwilling to comply with the request "He stated. He further stated that the IMACR has resolved to stage a democratic action against the district government on February 15 outside the Deputy Commissioner's office.
