New Delhi: The Indian Railways on Friday said that more than 2500 rounds or additional services are being run through 200 special trains across the country to Christmas in view of the huge number of passengers due to the festivals. In view of the convenience of railway passengers and the rush of passengers during the festive season, the Railways is running 200 pairs of special trains from Durga Puja to Christmas this year.

In a statement, the Indian Railways said that in addition, the number of coaches in regular trains is being increased so that more passengers can get seats. Railways have planned to run special trains on areas such as Delhi-Patna, Delhi-Kolkata, Delhi-Mumbai, Mumbai-Lucknow, Chandigarh-Gorakhpur, Delhi-Chapra, Howrah-Katihar, Haridwar-Jabalpur etc. Monitoring is being done by RPF staff at terminus stations for systematic entry of passengers into unreserved coaches. Additional RPF personnel have been deployed at main stations to ensure the safety of passengers.

The statement said that along with the deployment of security personnel in the busy railway areas, the additional staff of Engineering, Signal and Telecommunication Department have been deployed. According to the statement, adequate arrangements of lights have been made at the stations and major crossing gates.
