Ahmedabad: A 32-year-old man who was seriously infected with covid, sperm has been exerted by a private hospital in Vadodara following a Gujarat High Court directive, defeating him hours later. He was also battling pneumonia after having a corona three months ago. The hospital administration said the man on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) died early on Thursday after being admitted to the hospital on May 10 for corona-related complications at Sterling Hospital in Vadodara.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Gujarat High Court had ordered a Vadodara hospital to collect samples of a person seriously infected with coronavirus for the IVF/Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) procedure, as the chances of survival of the patient were very low and his 29-year-old wife wanted to be the mother of his child. The court had ruled the case on Tuesday considering it an extraordinary situation.
After hearing the patient's wife's plea immediately, Justice J Shastri directed a Vadodara hospital to collect samples of the patient for IVF/assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedure and keep it in the proper place as per medical advice.
