England off-spinner Amar Virdi may be lacking in experience, but he is hopeful that he will be able to make it to the squad for the three-match Test series, which starts against the West Indies from 8 July. The 21-year-old, who has only 23 matches of experience in the first division, will have to beat more experienced spinners like Jack Leach, Dom Bess, Matt Parkinson and Moeen Ali to make it to the Test team.

Working hard to make a place in the team: Amar Virdi, who plays for Surrey, has been included in the 30-member training group for the Test series against West Indies. If he is successful in making a place in the team, he will become the third player from the Sikh community after Monty Panesar and Ravi Bopara. Virdi said on Friday, 'Obviously I am here so I want to play Test cricket. I will keep doing my best to make a place in the team'. He said that he is working hard to make a place in the team for the first Test. He added, 'I don't really try to impress like this. I want to do my thing and want to be what I am. Instead of doing anything else, I try to impress with my skills.'

Amar Virdi has taken 69 wickets in 23 matches: Virdi said, 'I definitely want to play in the first Test match, or at least to confirm my place in the team. If I didn't want to do that, I probably shouldn't be here. I am very proud of myself that I have reached this point. The next stage for me is to make it to the test. For this, I will continue to work hard'. Virdi has taken 69 wickets in 23 matches of the first class. He said that he plays aggressive cricket and is always looking for wickets. He said, 'I think you need to be aggressive and always ready to take wickets. The pitches may not always suit you, but as a spinner, try to stop the batsmen. No matter what the circumstances, I always keep my eyes on the wicket.
